Special FAFSA help
February 22nd, 2012
Maybe someone can help me out. Fall of 2012 I plan to become a freshman at some college. I don’t know what to do with FAFSA. My mother, who I live with, was fired in 2010 after having a stroke. The most recent tax form she has was from 2010. My father has been deceased for many years & we have been living off the SSI. my mother has received no other income…can I just use the 2010 one to fill out the 2012/2013 FAFSA form? Thanks in advance.
You can complete the 1213 FAFSA.You want to make sure you put the SSI income under the parents section of ‘ untaxed income’.
You’ll use her 2011 SSI information.Do not use her 2010 tax return.
No, your mother still has to file for (this) last year – regardless that she’s not working.
You can not just go back and use the most recent tax year’s W-2, to be eligible you must follow the rules or they’ll just void your application.
