Can high schoolers work at gamestop?

February 22nd, 2012

I’m a sophomore, and over the summer im thinking about getting a job. I’ll be 16 by then. I know some friends my age working at other stores, so could i work at gamestop, or will i be too young?

According to their website you must be at least 16 years old to be eligible for employment at Gamestop. It would be funny and odd that someone under 18 is selling mature rated games that they can’t legally buy otherwise. I’m sure you have to sign a waiver and legal documents stating that you understand all the laws about that. Baggers must do this when handling alcohol and cigarettes at a grocery store. It’s not a huge deal but you need to be careful. On a side note, working at Gamestop isn’t as fun as it sounds. You can’t play games and must treat everything like a professional business. If you slack off or screw around with friends you will get fired.

Minimum age to work at Gamestop is 16. Most stores don’t hire outside of the holiday season because 75% of the company’s revenue is in the last 3 months of the year. There really isn’t a reason to hire new employees outside of holidays since most stores are overstaffed as it is. Get to know the manager before you turn 16 and you may have a shot. Don’t be surprised if the manager makes you wait until late September for an interview. And don’t be surprised if they don’t keep you after the holidays end.

yes just go and get the application and go to the interview
