SURE
There is a website called "scholarships for dummies" that award scholarships for everything from being tall, to left-handed, to red-headed, a lesbian, a cat-lover, or a vegetarian, 1/19th Zimbabwean, diabetics, writing poetry, being female, homeless, etc. check it out > http:///www.iamafreakingmoron.com
in some of the states in the US, there are state-sponsored tuition waivers for homeless
I didn’t even know this existed until someone who is on the program in FL pointed it out
to be homeless & qualify (in FL) you must have spent a large % of the year in homeless shelters… and/or spent time coming to the shelter for social worker support…. even if they were full & you were not able to get a bed….
there were some other criteria to qualify… I don’t remember all of them…. one was income.. apparently, to prevent people who can afford low-income shelter to use being homeless as a ticket to school tuition vouchers
This having been said….. FL has limited funding that program because they could not sustain it…. there was a news article about it in December
here is an excerpt of how they determine homelessness:
(11) Homeless – The University shall waive tuition and associated fees for a total of 120 credit
hours for any student who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence or whose
primary nighttime residence is a public or private shelter designed to provide temporary
residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized, or a public or private place not
designed for, or ordinarily used as, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings.
Yes there are.
