University of Miami

University of Miami is a private university founded in 1925, and is also one of universities providing the most extensive research and teaching in the Southeast, the National University Ranking No. 51. University of Miami currently has a total of 15,600 undergraduate and graduate students, including 1,300 international students from 111 countries in the world. The school has about 2,000 full-time teaching staff, and the students and faculty ratio is about 13:1, which is among the highest in the nation. University of Miami has 12 colleges and a continuing education and International Education department, offering 150 undergraduate programs, 130 graduate students degrees and 60 doctoral majors. There is a total of four campuses in South Florida, namely: College of Medicine in Miami urban, marine and Environmental Sciences at Virginia Key; John J. Koubek Center in Little Havana; James L. Knight Center in Miami urban area, in addition, there are a South Campus and Richmond campuses.

The Miami city was built in 1896. Miami is located in the southeastern part of the United States with an area of 34.3 square kilometers, and is the nation’s 11th largest city. It has a tropical climate, and is warm and humid. It is a famous tourist destination in the United States for coastal scenery. In 1920s, with the influx of large number of wealthy tourists, the Miami city has expanded rapidly. In the past decade, the Miami import and export trade volume increased 20% per year. At present, the Main City is not only the “gateway to the Americas” and is an international trade and commercial center. Miami is also American International financial business center in addition to New York, known as the “Latin American trade and financial capital,” having more than 100 foreign banks. Miami Federal Reserve institutions deal with 1.5 trillion annually.
